Individual Sessions
whether I have the power to change it or make matters worse.”
~ Marshall Rosenberg
Twyla offers 1:1 Coaching and Counseling sessions on a limited basis through Samya Yoga Healing. These sessions are based in Yoga Psychology and Philosophy, the foundation of which is to build and strengthen internal awareness. All of our suffering has its root from within the perception of the mind, so this is what needs to be addressed for transformational change.
Sessions focus on creating awareness of emotional reactions, taking responsibility for what you can control, and cultivating inner resources so you can calm and steady the mind, move through conflict, and increase empathy towards yourself and others.
If you are ready to make lasting, conscious change, contact Twyla for more details. Please note that Twyla currently lives abroad in Asia, so sessions with those living in the USA will be online and in the evenings due to the time zone difference.
What is Yoga-based Counseling?
Yoga-based Counseling is a unique approach to explore the ways in which the teachings of Yoga Psychology and Philosophy can help you shift limiting patterns in the mind and experience more contentment within all areas in life. The assumption is that there is actually nothing wrong with you. By ‘you’, it means the essence of who you truly are. Suffering and struggles come from the layers of learning, beliefs, and unresolved life experiences which keep you from knowing your True Self.
Through understanding and practicing awareness, you will be able to identify thought patterns, belief systems and reactions that fuel the suffering in your life so that you find clarity in where to focus your efforts to make conscious change that decreases suffering.
Unknowingly, we have all been taught to judge ourselves with ‘good’ and ‘bad’ labels. This includes our emotional reactions. So we end up fighting with them, trying to fix them… When nothing is actually broken, emotional reactions are the mind-body system trying to communicate with us. What is needed is to learn to listen instead of judging.
Working with Twyla means you will learn and practice the various techniques of Yoga for the Mind that you can use to increase both awareness and being in the present moment. These techniques may include meditation, breath work, mantra, hand-gestures, and self-study. These tools can help reduce stress and improve mindfulness, helping you to maintain peace and presence while dealing with the challenges of daily life.
Each person is different, so you will find and practice the tools that fit you and your life to navigate even the most challenging moments from a place of compassion, presence, and openness.
